Seems like I'm gearing more and more towards

these collage characters at the moment. Today I have been

scanning about 3 million pages with little fellas on them,

so much fun! I'm still working on the technique that'd

work best on collage - well at least I executed

a major improvement just by buying decent paper

glue today! Simple things...

The Sketchbook Project Starting Point

This is the view I see every morning. Looking at this, it's plain insanity to start a project under a theme "It's Summer Where You Are". I'm determined to fight against this sadness. Look at this. Someone has thought of this place, designed it for people to live, to be happy. I really need instructions from that person.

I think the Sketchbook project will be a continuation for my MA project where I tried to understand what makes spirit of a place. Basically my aim is to explore whether you can create your own reality 100 %. I want it to be that way. But I don't think it's entirely possible unless you're a Buddha. I want to understand this. The search continues.

The Sketchbook Project

My little book of The Sketchbook project 2012 came through mail today! My chosen theme is "It's summer where you are". I wanted to pick that subject because it's getting chilly and dark here in Helsinki, autumn is really kicking in. Maybe with this cute booklet I will be able to keep some warmth of those long, soft summer days.

Some more experimenting with vectors and high contrast. Feeling really curious what this could evolve into. I'm thinking of creating drawings like they were for screen printing so I have to think one colour as a layer of shapes. I studied patterns on textiles and that seems an interesting way to create a drawing. I'm usually overtly detailed so this might be a good way to simplify.

A quick experiment with black and white. I think this could take me to a new direction? Thinking of even taking up some of my old handmade work and turning it into more streamlined version and see how that works.

Wow, a new post :) It's been a while...
