A Research on Creativity

I have started a little research on creativity. The discussions I've had with another artists is beyond fascinating! I'm hoping to publish some of the outcome soon. Interesting times and at the moment enjoying Brighton, England. This city is always buzzing with creative stuff so will be great to see what comes out when I'm back home, my brain seems to be tingling with enthusiasm.

Melbourne Aquarium by Flukso

Melbourne Aquarium by Flukso

Back home in Finland from Melbourne, Australia. I spent three last days on the piece outside Hoboken cafe, Hosier Lane. Really sweet couple of days, I got to speak to many (other) tourists passing by and got photographed as well. At first it was really intimidating but once I got used to it, I started enjoying the buzz of the street.
The outcome of this work is that I really hope to get to paint as many walls as I possibly can in the (near?) future. So if there's anyone reading this and you know a perfect wall in the city you live, just drop me a line. I will consider travelling pretty much anywhere in the world to paint.

Work in Progress

The previous sketch ended up on canvas, slightly simplified though!
Need to do some finishing up touches and this puppy is ready
to face the world.

Love What You Do

Melb

Another sketch for Melbourne. I will have to make the pic less detailed in the final piece, but for the time being I'm not gonna limit it too much. I'd rather experiment on my own "handwriting" than create artificial boundaries at the moment. I know the big scale will change the process naturally without me having to do anything else than be creative with it. Went to Make Your Mark Gallery today to get some markers, they are so nice! Will try and do one piece with them before I go.

The Street Monsterrr

I'm traveling to Melbourne in a month and hoping to get a chance to create some murals (or at least one!) while in there. This is a sketch to get some ideas what to do - I'm thinking of getting some cool markers and drawing this rather than painting. I gave Make Your Mark Gallery a ring yesterday and they said they have markers up to 3 cm thick tips. That sounds pretty damn awesome - also they said you can just buy an empty marker and mix your own colours and fill it up. I think I confused the sales guy saying I feel a bit dizzy of joy hearing something like that. But anyways. Happy days. Something really nice coming up soon...

A Runner

Seems like I'm gearing more and more towards
these collage characters at the moment. Today I have been
scanning about 3 million pages with little fellas on them,
so much fun! I'm still working on the technique that'd
work best on collage - well at least I executed
a major improvement just by buying decent paper
glue today! Simple things...

The Sketchbook Project Starting Point

This is the view I see every morning. Looking at this, it's plain insanity to start a project under a theme "It's Summer Where You Are". I'm determined to fight against this sadness. Look at this. Someone has thought of this place, designed it for people to live, to be happy. I really need instructions from that person.

I think the Sketchbook project will be a continuation for my MA project where I tried to understand what makes spirit of a place. Basically my aim is to explore whether you can create your own reality 100 %. I want it to be that way. But I don't think it's entirely possible unless you're a Buddha. I want to understand this. The search continues.

What Happens When You Can't See the Faces Anymore?

The Nerve Center

I'm dreaming of a giant desk with a permanent collection of random mess! Think indefinite source of all things beautiful. I've just started working on a book cover and this is how it starts, creating small visual notes here and there, a brain puzzle.

IWANT Design

Today inspired by Jamie Woon's song "Waterfront", Buzzing Fly Records (which is not Woon's label however) and IWANT Design http://iwantdesign.tumblr.com/

I think I want to illustrate one of the Buzzing Fly tunes. I'm really busy with a magazine commission so not much time to have fun with scissors and coloured papers just now.

The Europ'Art Project

Forgot to mention that I had a visitor from France today,
Kévin Mantovani, who is working on documentary film
about some European creatives, just randomly picked.
I was contacted by him through Couch Surfing website!

Ok so big cheers to Kévin and his project, I just love people
taking initiative. He's on the road so the website updates
are quite few, but nice to check it out anyways.
